Boys will be boys!

Friday and Saturday we had a lot of snow and ice (for those of you who don't live in Kansas). It warmed up today so the boys went outside. What you can't tell in this picture is there is a big mud puddle just off the patio, you know, where the boys' dumptrucks are parked. I should have been prepared for what I was going to see next. The boys got behind their Tonka trucks and ran as fast as they could into the mud/snow/ice mixture until they wiped out.....In case you wondering this game was called "wipe out".

Jacob is pouting because Ben decided he was cold and wanted to come inside.

Ben, need I say more?????

Jake...

The boys soaked in water and mud. Trooper wouldn't get out of the way when I was taking pictures.

Happy? Definitely!
Would I trade them for girls? NO WAY!

4 years and 9 months

At preschool they encourage kiddos that have summer birthdays to celebrate a "half" birthday. Jake's would have been over Christmas so we had his 4 year and 9 month birthday on 3/23/09. You are looking at him holding a cupcake with homemade frosting. It was very delicious but super fattening (unfortunately). Over spring break my Aunt Leslie and her friend took them to the Nature Center in Wichita. Jake has really liked snakes since we caught one last year. Somehow, he talked his Aunt Leslie into buying this shirt for him. He LOVES the back because it has all the different markings of each snake on the front.
Jake also brought candy to share with everyone. He had a lot of "special orders" for me when buying and making treats. "Mom, Neva doesn't like frosting so don't put any frosting on her cupcake". Mom, so and so likes bottled water so we need to bring that for her instead of Capri Sun, etc. He is very thoughtful but I guess he hasn't figured out his mom is still learning how to be "Susie Homemaker" and I don't do "special orders!" :)

March 19, 2009 (part 1)

All three boys looking handsome....
Custer and Jake ready for siesta. Can you tell Jake is my dog/animal lover......

We went to the nursery to get mulch for Auntie Al's flower bed. The boys picked flowers for me (oops)...Afterwards we went to Cinnamon's Deli so Ben could have soup!

March 19, 2009(part 2)

Ben was still loopy on Loratab so we did a few more things while we were in Wichita.... We stopped off at Eric Fisher Academy and saw Jacqie during her lunch break. I don't remember what smelled but Jake was cracking up.

We stopped by the Sedgwick County Park (by the zoo) so the boys could "play." Throwing rocks was the real excitement though.

This picture was taken after they scared all the fish away from the fisherman at the pond. As you can see, they are quite proud of themselves.

Recovery Time

This is one my favorite coffee cups. I just crack up evertime I see this picture.
I was doing dishes when Ben asked me what the following meant.
Ben copied the logo from Barney Fife on his picture with tigger and pooh. I just smiled and said it was an "old" TV show mom use to watch a long time ago. He was okay with answer.

This was jut one of the things that happened over spring break.

Quote Of The Day!

My aunt just sent this picture from her trip last week. I thought since I was talking about Jake today I would add this for fun!
Today, Ben was acting puny and stayed home from school. Ben kept complaining about being dizzy and that made him feel like he was going to throw up. That being said, I made an appointment with Dr. Harris to see if the "patch" in Ben's ear was infected, etc. Long story, but all was well with Ben. Dr. Harris thought his electrolytes were off and wanted him to go home and drink Gatorade and eat a banana.

Afterwards we went and picked up Jake at the babysitters and Jake heard Ben had to go home and drink some Gatorade (which is a rare commodity in our home) in order to feel better. Jake ran inside once we got home and said to Luke:
"Dad! Dad! Ben has to drink a lot of Gatorade because his "engine lights" are all messed up!

I had to add this picture!

My precious Jacob has his Grandpa Jim's matching abilities (sorry dad-I couldn't resist)! He was so proud of himself last Wednesday when he got dressed by himself. We had no plans of going anywhere and this is how he stayed ALL day! In case you were wondering those pants are part of his K-State football costume.

On a side note, I am too lazy to get out of bed to see how you spell "gatoraide, gatorade" whatever. Thanks for bearing with me!

Jacob's Spring Break Adventure

Jacob got to hang out with his friend Clayton today while we were with Ben. Jacob went to Sommer's house at 6:30 AM. They played hard until 4:30 PM!THESE 2 ARE ALL BOY!!!
Jacob and Clayton after one full day of play!

Faye tolerated the two boys all day (bless her heart). She had just given Elly their border collie a bath!

Ben's Spring Break "Adventure"

Ben has NOT been looking forward to having his tonsils out but was quite brave today. Dr. Harris was running late and we had a lot of "cartoon time." Here Ben was hanging out with his dad at the Surgery Center! Ben was so brave when he walked back to surgery with the nurse and didn't look back!
This is how we saw him when we got into recovery! We were so thankful he came out from surgery okay.
Once Ben opened his eyes he stuck his tongue out and said "LOOK"! He didn't like being the ONLY one in the family who still had their tonsils so he was excited after surgery.
Ben got a hold of the camera and picked this picture for the blog.

Anesthesia couldn't get Ben's IV in his hand and "poked" him 11 times. The nurse felt so bad she gave Ben a lot of extra "goodies". Here, Ben is playing with an inflatable dolphin. He wanted a remote control helicopter as his "happy day gift." Once we got it figured out, it was like a jumbo dragonfly on steroids, flying around the house. I was happy when it needed recharged!

Soccer

On Friday we found Ben some "shin guards" for his first soccer game the next day. It took a lot of persuasion but we finally got him to try them on. We had to really "pump him up" before he felt comfortable wearing them. Finally he thought it was funny when Jake would kick him and "it didn't hurt."
Look at how cute those little legs are!
HOWEVER, I knew something was wrong Friday night when Ben didn't get off the couch. He felt warm but no temperature. Saturday morning before his "big" soccer game he had "dry heaves" and had a temperature. He didn't get off of the couch until about 3:30. Ben came in and asked if it was time to go to his game (not realizing he already missed it). We had very big alligator tears when he found out they had already played this morning. I knew he was feeling better when he and Jacob started wrestling but it didn't take long for him to get back on the couch.
Ben felt better this morning but by the time we got out of church he said his eyes were tired. He willingly took a nap this afternoon. He was doing better but before bed I noticed he was feeling warm again and his temp was over 100 degrees. He is still on antibiotics and I am not really sure what is the "latest bug" going around school.
We could certainly use some prayers that Ben gets well and stays well so he can get his tonsillectomy on 3/17!

Jacob's Special Day

My mom and step-dad had two extra tickets to the K-State Men's Basketball game on Saturday. Ben had his first soccer game and chose to stay at home rather go to the basketball game. This meant it was Jacob's special time with grandma and grandpa.

He was so grown up when mom picked him up on Friday. He couldn't wait for me to shut the door to her car so they could leave and go out to eat....Saturday they got up early and went to the "coffee shop" in McPherson for breakfast. He had a cinnamon roll which he said was "delicious".

The seats to the games are awesome, right behind the team, a few rows up, and both boys have caught t-shirts from Willie Wildcat sitting in those seats.....Well guess who was sitting a few rows in front of them???? Look at the picture and see if you can guess.............
Well, I couldn't tell either but look below.......now any ideas?
It was JOSH FREEMAN, K-State's quarterback! Jacob went and got his autograph. I asked Jacob what he thought and he said he was "really tall!" For those of you who don't follow K-State he is standing next to Jordy Nelson (Jake's all time favorite player - who now plays for the Green Bay Packers). Josh (you know we are on a first name basis - ha ha) is the african american player and Jordy is to the right of Josh.

Now you ask, did you get a picture???? That is what I asked my mom too!! However, she forgot her camera and the woman next to her didn't know how to use her phone to take a picture either.....Seriously, my mom is the type of person who PLANS everything...hours, days, weeks, months in advance and yet she always forgets her camera. Maybe she needs a new phone, oh wait...that would mean she would have to remember to charge her phone (sorry mom)!

Regardless, Jacob had a great time and I got a clean house out of the deal!

Miscellaneous!

Miscellaneous photos since I haven't blogged in a few days. Trooper pictures compliments of Jacob the day before Troop got his annual "doggy do".
After Picture..............not good but he sure feels better! Did I mention that the simple groomers visit ended up costing me $275+ because he saw the vet there? That's right, I about started hyperventilating.
Jacqie, Isabele and Ben!
This was a picture of lincoln logs designed as a mini stone hedge. Do you notice the TV on the entertainment center? the stone hedge table? Those are the two articles that tried to make a sandwich out of Ben's head. We are all lucky it wasn't much, much worse.

Isabele, Jacqie and Boys

Grandpa was "glowing" during an overdue visit from his granddaughter, Isabele.

On Sunday Jacqie and Isabele came over to eat "Grandpa's chicken and noodles........." The boys were excited to see their sister and "their baby". They don't quite understand the concept of being "uncles" and that Isabele is really their "niece." Everyone had a good time!
